Always identify place and time of interview

For very VIP, do it via secretary

Make sure of appointment a short while (like 30 minutes) before starting interview

Use more than one tools, one of them necessarily notebook

Check your tools: your pen writes, recorders records, have enough battery and enough blank paper, tape or digital space

Check again minutes before starting

You can’t go for interviewing ministers and slum inhabitants in the same dress

Have friendly chat before you throw your questions

Explain about the aim of your interview

Friendly talk about the topic

Ask about how it is going on (you may catch new news)

How to start questions, from hard to easy or vise versa

While Interview

q Sit with interviewee, near, open and friendly

q Ask without explanation

q Ask brief and specific

Don't ask what you think about the student

But, ask what you think about the spread of swine flu among the students, or specify more

Don’t ask what you think about women issue

But ask about illiteracy among women

q Listen don’t be busy much with noting down, taking picture

q Follow, ask questions you make from answers

q Show interest to the answers

q Let the interviewee complete his speech

q But also, Interrupt when boring

q Repeat your question in other way to make sure or when the interviewee tries escaping

q Don’t do “ahm, yes, right……” (especially for TV and Radio)

q Don’t run out of questions (you have a list)

q Not necessarily ask all your questions

q Ask if he has anything to add or to make sure

q You make sure of infos, numbers and names

q Get profile and contact

q Talk about possible future interview
